Our 5 tips to make cooking stress-free

1. Some planning ahead saves you time and money: You can buy ingredients in advance and bring them with you from the beginning. So, you don’t have to worry about where to buy them when travelling, especially when you don’t speak or read the language of the destinations

  1. Pack foods that are versatile, have long expiration dates and don’t need to be stored in the fridge, such as different type of grains (rice, pasta, oats); canned products (tomato, olives, corn), basic ingredients such as oil and spices and so on

3. Remember to keep the window open when cooking inside the camper van to prevent the smell to linger inside your living and sleeping area

4. For beginners: easy one-pot recipes or recipes that only require a maximum of 2 stoves is the way to go.

5. Plan in a way that you can create a new dish with the leftovers of the day before. For example, your first dinner on the menu is creamy mushroom pasta. So you plan ahead and make extra portion pasta for the day after. With a bit of creativity, you have a pasta salad dish for the next lunch/dinner

How to make amazing coffee with the Mokka pot

With our espresso maker, the Mokka pot, you can make delicious coffee for your morning routine. So, follow our 8 steps to ensure that your coffee is top-notch!

  1. Buy the right ground coffee for Mokka pot. The grind should be slightly coarser than espresso but finer than that for a French press or a drip coffee maker. If the powder is too fine, your cup of coffee might turn out to be bitter.
  2. Heat up your water before you pour it in the pot. If the water and coffee are heated up at the same time, your coffee will turn bitter
  3. While waiting for hot water, you can fill the filter basket with the coffee ground, gently flatten it with your finger. Do not tamp it or press it down
  4. Pour the hot water into the bottom pot and fill it up only to the safety valve inside. Assemble everything together.
  5. Quickly move it onto the stove. Moderate heat will do the trick. You don’t want to boil the water but gradually extract the flavour.
  6. Leave the lid open during the process to avoid overheating. Once your coffee starts to flow, you will see a nice delicious golden-brown color.
  7. Listen and wait. As soon as you hear a gurgling sound or when you notice the color is turning pale, you want to cool down the pot with running tap water or with a cold damp cloth. This help prevents the burnt taste. The point is to get a small amount of concentrated quality coffee so you should not wait for all the water to run through your coffee.
  8. Enjoy your coffee the way it is or add milk of your choice!

Extra tip: You can use a French Press to froth milk for a latte! Simply heat the milk and put it into the French Press. Move the plunger until the milk doubles in volume. And voila!
