What, another year gone already? Just a moment ago we were wishing each other "Happy New Year" with a glass of champagne and now we are already preparing for the coming year 2023.
Today we would like to look back on an eventful and successful 2022 and tell you about our personal highlights of the year, the most exciting customer experiences and the latest developments from the FreewayCamper team.
Our annual highlights 2022
We experienced the largest growth of new stations, countries, vehicle fleet and the number of campsites. On top of that, our international team is also growing!
🌟 TV Galileo Show
Did you already know? Last year in 2022, the ProSieben Knowledge Magazine Galileo! visited us. In just two intensive training days, we trained Matthias Fiedler from reporter to station manager. This episode was broadcasted throughout Germany in the Galileo X-Days feature on 25.07.2022.

🌟 28 stations in 4 countries
This year witnessed our largest fleet and station growth since inception!
We started 2022 with only 6 stations in Germany and finished the year with a total of 28 stations in Germany, Italy, Poland and Switzerland!
In Germany you can find us in 23 cities, in Poland in the two stations Krakow and Warsaw, in Italy in Turin and Milan and in Switzerland in Schaffhausen.

🌟 Over 2,000 campsites bookable across Europe
Another highlight of this year was the diversification of our campsite offers.
In addition to your dream camper, you can now also find the campsite of your choice from more than 2,000 campsites and meadows across Europe via our booking portal!
🌟 New Electric Camper
Another personal highlight was that we introduced the first electric camper to our fleet this year. This brings us closer to our goal of making camping trips more sustainable, more environmentally friendly and with the smallest possible carbon footprint.
With the Pössl E-Vanster, the camping trip becomes a completely new experience. The electric camper is 100% electrically powered, compact like a van and ideally equipped with two sleeping areas for the next camping holiday with a partner or group of friends. Furthermore, without annoying engine noises, your camping holiday with the baby or dog becomes even more comfortable!

Every single camping trip was unique in the past year 2022. Have you ever wondered what the longest campervan adventure was or how many dogs go on holiday with our campers on average?

🚐 The longest camping trip was 147 nights
The longest adventure that a camper in our fleet was able to experience lasted 147 nights! Our camper covered over 15,000km on this long journey through Europe!

🚐 Over 847 happy dogs on the road
This year, over 847 dogs travelled with us in our campers.
Compared to last year 2021, that's more than 200% fewer dogs that had to waited for your return. With us, no one has to stay at home! We look forward to accompanying you and your dogs on your travels again next year.
🚐 More than 50% camping beginners
We were once again able to accompany more than 50% of our customers on their first camping adventure!

The VW Grand California was the most popular model in our fleet on the roads of Europe this year, with around 15,500 nights booked!

What’s new at FreewayCamper
A lot has also happened behind the scenes at FreewayCamper this year.
🌱 This year, FreewayCamper was able to secure investments of 30 million in equity and debt capital. This means that nothing stands in the way of the further development of a one-stop shop for individual camping trips planned for 2023!
🌱 Our biggest adventure as a company this year was moving the headquarters in Munich from the start-up environment Werk1 to our first own open-plan office.
🌱 We were also pleased to host FreewayCamper's second and largest team event. In November, around 100 FreewayCamper team members from all corners of Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy, France and Spain gathered for two intensive days at Lake Chiemsee in Germany.
🌱 We were also pleased to see the steady expansion of FreewayCamper's international team this year to over 100 employees in its office hubs in Munich, Warsaw and Zagreb, as well as stations across Europe.
